Teztile Inkjet Print Quality of Polymer-Pretreatment on Cotton
This present research has studied on print quality of inkjet printing on cotton fabric. The study aim was comparison inkjet print quality of different polymers pretreated on cotton fabric by using statistic analyzing. The inkjet ink was used in the study was aqueous based ink, CMYK reactive dyes as colorants. Three of polymers were used for treatment on a cotton fabric which were polyvinyl alcohol, polyethylene oxide, and gum arabic. They were varied in different concentration and measured their viscosity before padding on cotton fabric. The print quality on fabric without washing was evaluated statistically on color distribution in L*a*b* color space, print sharpness and ink adhering on the fabric surface by MATLAB? Besides, tone reproduction was studied as well. The results showed that the print quality depended upon pretreatment agent and concentration or viscosity of pretreatment solution. Color print density increased with increasing of the polymer concentration, 10-15%wt of polyethylene oxide pretreatment gave the highest print density and print contrast, comparatively. The statistical analyzing on print quality of positive and negative lines and alphabets indicated that gum arabic pretreatment gave clean print, good image sharpness and had capability to perform higher print resolution than that of polyethylene oxide and polyvinyl alcohol pretreatment.
