Research on the Coating’s Aging Performance of the Ink-jet Printing Paper
This paper investigated the effects of the coating’s composition and dosage, pH, and UV irradiation time on the aging rate of ink-jet paper using ATR-IR and SEM analysis, aiming at the features of the coating on the Inkjet papers that commonly used. The results showed that it significantly decreases the brightness, increases the color-difference and the numbers of the cracks on the coating surface, as aging time extending; the aging resistance performances between the coating’s pigments are quite different; and the binder is a major factor to coating’s aging. It was also showed that the final pH of the coating affects the anti-aging properties of the printing paper, and the best result can be achieved at a coating pH of~9.0.For the coating with PVA, the C-H bond on the unsaturated C=C bond in PVA molecules is gradually oxidized, which forms the saturated-CH2 or-CH3 bond, as the aging time proceeds.
