Research on Dot Compensation Method of Digital Image

Digital gray image as an example, based on the measured representative dot gain values, it drew the dot gain curve by Matlab programming method. Then based on Newtons iterative method it obtained the corresponding dot compensation values in calculating inverse method and fit the dot compensation curve. At last based on the dot compensation curve and threshold matrix method it processed directly each pixel of the digital image by Matlab programming method and achieved dot compensation of the digital image. The result showed, tone range was expanded and brightness was enhanced, besides image level became more gentle, which were more conducive for image high-quality printing output.
