Subjective Evaluation Ezperiment and Data Analysis of Color Difference for Digital Images Abstract
The color-difference formulae we usually use are based on the uniform color samples, which can not be simply applied to calculate color difference of images. The psychophysical experiment was performed to explore the methods. 100 pairs of test images originated from five typical images by transfer functions. In the image manipulation progress, each original image was altered in three aspects: lightness, chroma respectively and lightness and chroma simultaneously. Analysis of variance was performed to experimental data. The reliability of experiment was analyzed. The relationship between experimental results and test images was also discussed. It showed that the color difference of image was content-related, and the direction of color difference formula improvement was given.
