Research on Digital Image’s Color-Difference by Altering Lightness and Chroma Ⅰ:Analysis of Subjective Color-Difference Data Set Abstract
A subjective experiment is made to evaluate the visual color difference of color images with ISO SCID 400 images N2 (Street), N3 (Fruit), N4 (Metal), N5 (Object) and N7 (Musician), with which total 3600 experiment data are obtained. The linear fitting result of visual data and mean CIELAB E* ab shows that the slope of fitting line is depending on the contents of image, this implies that the image content has effect to the color difference sensations. The sensation to the relative bright and desaturated images is more sensitive than the saturated color image. The experimental results show that the perceived color difference raised by lightness alone is less sensitive than that raised by chroma alone, which proves that CIELAB(2:1) color difference formula is better than CIELAB(1:1) when calculating image’s color difference.
