Synthesis of Hyperbranched Polymeric Dyes used in Ink-jet Ink

The one-pot synthesis of hyperbranched polyester (HBPE) from pentaerythritol (TMP) as a B4 core and 2,2-Dimethylolpropionic acid (DMPA) as a AB2 monomer was studied. The hyperbranced struscture has been confirmed by IR、1H NMR and 13C NMR analysis, and degree of branching of the polyesters was determined as 0.41 as well. The reaction kinetics has been studied as well, and the esterification reaction kinetic equation was measured as-dCOOH/dt=KCOOHOH. The alkylated-terminal hyperbaranched polyester was prepared by further chemical modification of terminal groups. The solubility of the hyperbranched polyester and polymeric dye in solvents were improved by the presence of long alkyl chain in the structure, compared to the hyperbranched polyester without modification. Furthermore, the red hyperbranched polymeric dye (RLHBP) was prepared by the reaction of 2-hydroxyethylamino-9,10-anthraquinone with modified hyperbranched polyester (LHBP).
