Latest Developments in Chemically Prepared Toner

There is significant work being conducted worldwide in the field of Chemically Prepared Toner (CPT). The term Chemically Prepared Toner now is used to categorize all toner manufacturing processes that are unconventional or in other words processes that do not incorporate dry melt mixing of the ingredients for the toner with subsequent size reduction and particle size classification using a mechanical method such as air jet missing and aerodynamic classification techniques. Formerly because of the limited scope of technological developments in unconventional toner preparation techniques the term quite correctly classified those that included chemically controlled synthesis of particulate polymer compositions ether in dispersed or in emulsified states. The ingenuity and inventiveness of the NIP industry is such that these boundaries have been traversed by new and innovative particulate preparation methods not involving primary chemical reactions and being based on the manipulation of dispersions and emulsions in the formation of these particles. There has been active patenting of newly developed technology in the field of CPT and we can review some recent enhancements as shown below.
