A Study on Processing Fingerprint Images
Fingerprint authentication refers to the automated method of verifying the identity between two human fingerprints. Fingerprint is one of many forms of biometrics used to identify an individual and verify their identity. One of the typical algorithms of processing fingerprint images is converging, smoothing, binarizing, and skeletonizing. The output image is to be analyzed by, for example, the feature point extraction method and then be compared with the pre-registered image. One of the current problems is that two different fingerprint images processed by this algorithm possibly have the same number of feature points. In this study we propose some new algorithms of both image processing method and feature point extraction method. We hope this study will be a basic of developing a simple identification system.
