The Application of HDRI Technology in Forensic Photography

In forensic photography, high dynamic range imaging (HDRI or just HDR) is a set of techniques that allow a greater dynamic range of luminance between the lightest and darkest areas of an image than that of the standard digital imaging techniques or photographic methods. This wider dynamic range allows HDR images to represent luminance distribution more accurately in real scenes ranging from direct sunlight to faint starlight. Experimental evidences demonstrate that the HDR technique can solve many difficulties in forensic photography, such as the recording of backlighting scenery and the high-contrast trace. As a result, I propose that HDRI technique should be widely used in forensic photography.
