Electrosynthesis of An Ezcellent Green-light-emitting Polyfluorene Derivative

Poly(fluorene derivatives) have been investigated as an attractive class of materials for device applications such as the emissive layers in diodes (LEDs) due to their efficient electroluminescence (EL), photoluminescence(PL) and good charge transport properties. Synthesis of luminescence polyfluorene materials has important theory value and promising prospect. Now polydiphenylmethylenefluorene films with green-light-emitting property were synthesized electrochemically by direct anodic oxidation of diphenylmethylenefluorene in boron trifluoride diethyl etherate (BFEE) and CH2Cl2 on stainless steel sheet. Fluorescence spectra of the monomer and polymer in DMSO were recorded. For the monomer, the emission spectrum emerged at 338 nm with a small shoulder. In comparison, a maximum emission at 511 and 507 nm characterized the spectrum of the doped and dedoped polymer. The results show that polybenzhydrylidenefluorene from the systems is a typical green-light-emitter, implying some potential applications in organic optoelectronics.
