Electrochemical Fabrication of Novel Fluorescent Poly(pyrene-co-3-methylthiophene) Films
Poly(pyrene-co-3-methylthiophene), a novel fluorescent copolymer was successfully achieved by electrochemical oxidation of the monomer mixtures of pyrene and 3-methylthiophene (3MeT) in boron trifluoride diethyl etherate (BFEE). The resulting copolymer can partly soluble in organic solvents DMSO. Fluorescence spectroscopy studies revealed that the emitting properties of the copolymer could be parameters by changing the feed ratio of the monomer mixtures during the electrochemical polymerization. Meanwhile, it is also very interesting to find that soluble copolymers dissolved in DMSO can emit different photoluminescence when exposed to 365 nm UV light.
