A New Toner for Direct Thermographic Materials
Toner is one of the primary components in the dryprocessed silver-based direct thermographic (TG) materials. Many kinds of toners have been reported. However, most of them were expensive or toxic, and only a few were widely used. Developing an inexpensive and non-toxic toner is of crucial importance for TG materials. In this work, we introduced nicotinic acid as a toner into TG materials. Experimental results showed Nicotinic acid could adjust the image tone from yellow to deep black, and the image optical density increased obviously. The results indicated that Nicotinic acid could be used as a useful toner for TG materials.
