Spectral Properties and Structures of the J-Aggregates of Cyanine Dye
Dye sensitization is a fundamental function for solar cell and silver halide (AgX) microcrystal to increase the photoelectronic conversion efficiency. The absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy of the J-aggregate of pseudoisocyanine (PIC) dye adsorbed both on silicon plates and AgBr crystal surfaces were investigated by the use of UV/Vis spectroscopy. The self-oriented Jaggregates of PIC dye were studied by means of atomic force microscopy (AFM). J-aggregates of PIC dye absorbing light at lower wavelength (maximal absorption at 570 nm) was formed in silicon plates and J-aggregates of PIC absorbing at 575 nm was observed on AgBr cubic crystal. The fluorescence spectroscopes of these species were invested. The rectangular structures of J-aggregate of PIC dye absorbed on the AgBr crystal surfaces were observed.
