Sensitization of Cubo-octahedral Silver Bromide Emulsion Doped with Ozalate
In the emulsifying process of silver bromide microcrystals in the double-jet apparatus controlled by a microcomputer, a certain amount of oxalate salt was added at a specific time and pAg to a reactor to prepare two cubo-octahedral silver bromide emulsions in which oxalate ions were doped at the subsurface of silver bromide microcrystals. The sensitometric results from these emulsions showed:1) that the sensitivities of oxalate-doped silver bromide emulsion, relative to that of the undoped emulsion as the controlled one, were remarkably increased; 2) that a cooperative sensitization by oxalate dopant, sulfur-plus-gold and dye was observed without any significant increase in fog level; 3) that the sensitivity gains of cubo-octahedral silver bromide emulsions were less than those of octahedral ones, but more than those of cubic ones.
