Electrochemical Polymerization of a New o-Phenozy-hezyl Dicarbazole and Fluorescence of its Cross-linking Network Polymer
During the past decades, conjugated polymers with different chemical structures emitting different colors in the whole visible range have been widely investigated. Increasing interest has been paid to polycarbazoles owing to their relatively high chemical and thermal stability, and excellent fluorescent properties. In this paper, a novel 1,2-bis(6-(9H-carbazol-9-yl)hexyloxy)benzene (BCHB) monomer was synthesized via the reaction of 9-(6-bromohexyl)-9H-carbazole with catechol in acetone. The cross-linking network film was achieved electrochemically by direct anodic oxidation of the monomer BCHB in boron trifluoride diethyl etherate (BFEE) mixed with 50% dichloromethane (by volume). Fluorescence spectral of as-formed polymer network films in solid state showed that the emission peaks appeared at about 358 nm, 379 nm, 396 nm, 419nm and 442 nm, implying the blue-light emitting property of the as-formed polymer, which may find potential application in organic light-emitting-diode.
