Sensitization Effect of Benzotriazole in Water-coated PTG Materials

A new type of chemical sensitizer, benzotriazole BZT), was used for sensitization of water-coated photothermographic (PTG) materials which were made up of ex-situ AgBr, silver stearate (AgSt), polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and other functional components. The experimental results showed: (1) that the sensitization capability of BZT to PTG materials was quite effective and the maximal sensitivity relative to the unsensitized one could be increased by 40 times; (2) that the improvement in sensitivity of PTG materials was dependent on sensitization modes, i.e. the mode of sensitization by BZT which sensitized single ex-situ AgBr was much better than that by BZT which sensitized single AgSt.
