Study on the Influence of Monomers on the Characteristics of Water-base UV Varnish

In order to study the influence of monomers on the characteristics of water-base UV varnish, the different kinds of acrylate monomers with different functionality are used for preparing varnish. The viscosity, curing rate and the glossiness coating of the varnish are tested, comparing the characteristics of different varnish. The result shows that the monomers structure have less effect on the glossiness coating of the varnish and have some impact on the viscosity and curing rate. The bifunctional monomer HDDA can lower the viscosity and slow curing rate of varnish. The tri-functional monomer TMPTA has the higher viscosity and it can improve the curing rate of varnish. In order to improve the characteristics of water-base UV varnish, the mixed monomer has been designed using the way of a formulation experiment.
