EFFECT OF TEMPERATURE OF POLYMERIZATION ON CONDUCTIVITY AND MORPHOLOGY OF POLYANILINE
The conducting polymers have emerged as new class materials because of their unique electrical, optical and chemical properties. Conductive Polyaniline (PANI) has been studied extensively because of its easy of synthesis in aqueous media, its environmental stability and special electrical and other properties. In present study, PANI was synthesized by oxidizing aniline hydrochloride with ammonium peroxydisulfate in aqueous medium at different temperature. The synthesized PANI had been characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) Spectroscopy. The influence of temperature of polymerization on its electrical conductivity and morphology were studied. The electrical conductivity of all the samples was measured by four-point probe method at room temperature. It was observed that, as the temperature of polymerization increases, electrical conductivity of synthesized PANI decreases. The highest electrical conductivity value was observed for polymerized PANI at 0℃. The variation Conductivity of PANI with temperature of polymerization can be explained by intra-chain and inter-chain conductivity of polymer chain. Change in morphology of synthesized PANI was observed by SEM micrograph.
