THERMAL AND CONDUCTIVITY STUDIES ON P(ECH-EO)–LiClO4 POLYMER ELECTROLYTE GELLED WITH γ-BUTYROLACTONE
The transparent and homogeneous polymer electrolyte based on the elastomer poly(epichlorohydrin-ethyleneoxide) P(ECH-EO) have been studied as a gel polymeric electrolyte in P(ECH-EO)/γ-Butyrolactone (γ-BL)/Lithium perchlorate (LiClO4) system prepared by simple solvent evaporation technique. The amorphous nature of the gel polymer electrolyte system has been confirmed by XRD analysis. The DSC thermogram shows that the addition of the γ-BL results in the decrease of glass transition temperature (Tg). Hence it is found that the addition of the plasticizer to the solid polymer electrolyte system of P(ECH-EO)/LiClO4 increases the segmental motion of the polymer chain. The maximum ionic conductivity was found to be 1.3x10-4Scm-1.
