AC IMPEDANCE STUDIES ON PROTON CONDUCTING POLYMER ELECTROLYTES (PVA-CH3COONH4-PEG)
Current trends in research is mainly focused on the development of proton conducting polymer electrolyte membrane with high ionic conductivity at room temperature with good mechanical strength due to their wide applications in fuel cell, high energy batteries, gas sensors etc. AC impedance studies on the proton conducting polymer electrolyte of pure polyvinyl alcohol and ammonium acetate has already been studied. It is interesting to find the effect of PEG which acts as the plasticizer on the high conducting composition of PVA-CH3COONH4. The AC impedance spectroscopic studies have been carried out with HIOKI 3532 LCR meter in the frequency range of 42 Hz to 1 MHz. It is observed that the conductivity of PVA-CH3COONH4 is not increased with the addition of PEG in the concentration range studied. Variation of conductivity with PEG concentration is discussed. Dielectric studies have also been studied and the results are discussed.-
