CONSTANT OCV OF SOFC WITH DOPED CERIA ELECTROLYTES DURING ELECTRODE DEGRADATION
The open circuit voltage (OCV) of SOFC with doped ceria as electrolyte is lower than the Nernst voltage because of the mixed ionic-electronic solid conductors of doped ceria. The Gd0.1Ce0.9O2 (GDC) supported cell with NiO-GDC (6:4 wt.) as anode and La0.6Sr0.4Co0.8Fe0.2O3-δ (LSCF) as cathode was made in the paper. The OCV of this cell were unchanged with 0.79V at 800℃, either before or after operating at 800℃ for 48hours, as well as the performance of the cell gradually degraded during the operation. This result is contradictory to the traditional theory, which is that the OCV of cell with doped ceria electrolyte should change with time. It is really needed to discuss openly in detail in the area.
