NANOMETER SIZED Ce1-zNdzO2 PARTICLES PREPARED BY ONE STEP MOLTEN SALTS METHOD AND ITS ELECTRICAL PROPERTIES
The structure and electronic conductivities of Ce1-xNdxO2 (x=0.05-0.25) solid solutions, prepared by One Step Molten Salts Method for the first time, were investigated. The small particle size (80-100nm) of the Molten Salts prepared materials allows sintering of the samples into highly dense ceramic pellets at 1300-1400℃, a significantly lower temperature than 1600-1650℃, which is required for samples prepared by solid-state techniques. The highest conductivity was found for Ce0.8Nd0.2O2 (б800 ℃=0.051S/cm) with predominantly oxide-ion mobility.
