STRUCTURAL AND TRANSPORT STUDIES ON POLYMER (PEO+IL) MEMBRANES
The polymer electrolyte membranes based on PEO+IL and PEO+LiClO4 of different compositions have been made by novel solvent free hot-press technique. X-ray diffraction (XRD), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and complex impedance spectroscopy techniques have been used to characterize the polymer electrolyte membranes. Conductivity of these polymer electrolyte membranes has been measured over a wide temperature range to evaluate the transport mechanism. The DSC results show that a slight shift in the melting temperature (Tm) of polymer electrolyte membranes occurs towards lower temperature due to addition of ionic liquid and salt in the pure PEO. The temperature dependence conductivity plot shows two regions and follows Arrhenius type thermally activated process.
