COMPOSITION DEPENDENCE OF THE SOUND VELOCITY IN AG-SE SYSTEM: A STUDY BASED ON A VISCOELASTIC MODEL
Silver chalcogenides are superionic conductors which are characterized by their high ionic conductivity. Experimentally, it has been reported that the electronic properties of liquid Ag-Se system exhibits unusual behavior at the stoichiometric composition. The anomalous behavior has been also observed in the composition dependence of the ionic conductivity. On the other hand, in the measurement of the composition dependence of the sound velocity, no anomalous behavior has been detected. In this contribution, the sound velocity in Ag-Se system is examined by using the interpenetrating two fluid model of superionic melt. In particular, the effect of varying the Thomas-Fermi screening parameter on the sound velocity near the stoichiometric composition is considered. The model indicates that the sound velocity is affected by the value of the Thomas-Fermi screening parameter.
