KINETICS OF HIGH TEMPERATURE GAS ELECTRODE REACTION ON SOLID OXIDE ELECTROLYTE
Brief overview is given on the model for gas electrode reaction on solid oxide electrolyte proposed so far by the present author and his co-workers. The gas electrode reaction on solid electrolyte is generally controlled by the chemical reaction of gaseous species on the electrode surface or diffusion process on the surface and in the bulk of electrode materials. The generalized rate equation for this gas electrode reaction is given. Then, kinetics on the Pt/oxide electrolyte system in O2-Ar, CO-CO2, H2-H2O, and CH4-H2O gas mixtures are summarized, followed by the discussion on the kinetics of H2-H2O on Ni/YSZ and Pt/proton conducting oxide. Finally, the reaction rate on oxide electrodes/oxide electrolyte system is reviewed.
