SYNTHESIS AND HIGH-RATE PERFORMANCE OF LiFePO4/C PREPARED BY SOL-GEL
Porous LiFePO4/C with excellent electrochemical property was successfully synthesized by an improved sol-gel method, using citrate Fe() Ⅲ 、NH4H2PO4 and Li(OH) as precursors, citrate acid as additive. With this new synthesis technique, the precursor was prepared with less time and energy consumption. Based on the TG-DTA result, a special heat-treatment was worked out to obtain highly crystalline LiFePO4 composites with ordered structure, uniform particle and pore size where the pores serve as channels for lithium supply and the distance between the pores determines the materials kinetics. Galwanostatic battery tests show this material has excellent high-rate performance. As an electrode, a capacity of 132mAh/g is discharged at 10C rate(the specific charge density is 1700mAh/g). Charged at 1C rate, the electrode can deliver a discharge capacity of 160mAh/g with good cycle performance.
