EFFECT OF NANO SIZED Al2O3 FILLER ON ELECTRICAL BEHAVIOR OF PVA BASED NANO COMPOSITE ELECTROLYTES

An attempt has been made in the present work to develop nano sized Al2O3 doped PVA based nano composite polymer gel electrolytes to improve mechanical integrity and as well as electrical behavior of PVA based electrolytes. XRD result shows that amorphosity of free standing films increases with increasing concentration of nano filler in composite gel electrolytes. DMA (Dynamical Mechanical) studies of Al2O3 nano particles doped & undoped PVA gel electrolyte show improvement in mechanical stability with increase of filler content. Bulk conductivity of these polymeric composite gel electrolytes is seen to enhance by an order of magnitude with appearance of two conductivity maximas in concentration dependence plots. The optimum conductivity of nano doped gel electrolytes is found to be 5.32x10-2 S/cm for 6wt% of Al2O3 polymer gel composite electrolytes. Temperature dependence of electrical conductivity shows a combination of Arrhenius and VTF nature.
