FUNCTIONIZATION OF TITANIA NANOTUBE ARRAYS WITH VANADIUM PENTOXIDE LOADING

Highly ordered TiO2 nanotube arrays (TNTs) on Ti substrate were fabricated by using an electrochemical anodic oxidation method. V2O5 functionized titania nanotube arrays (V2O5/TNTs) were obtained by electrophoresis deposition method (EDP) with the TNTs as the cathode, graphite electrode as the anode and V2O5 sol as the electrolyte. XRD results showed that there were no diffraction peaks that could be assigned to V2O5, which indicated that V2O5 particles were well dispersed in TNTs. FE-SEM images showed that obtained nanotubes have an inner pore-size diameter of 80 to 100 nm and a wall thickness of approximately 10 nm. With the increasing of electrophoresis time, more V2O5 particles were loaded on the surface of TNTs. The reasonable electrophoresis time is 5 to 10 min. The as-prepared V2O5/TNTs exhibit an enhanced the degradation rate of benzene than pure TNTs.
