KEY MATERIALS AND FABRICATION OF ANODESUPPORTED INTERMEDIATE TEMPERATURE SOFC
Fine powders of Ce0.8Sm0.2O1.9 (SDC) composition as an electrolyte material, Ni-SDC composition as an anode material and La0.6Sr0.4Co0.2Fe0.8O3-δ (LSCF) composition as a cathode material for an intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cell were synthesized using combustion process. The sinterability of the SDC electrolyte and the electrochemical performance of both Ni-SDC anode and LSCF cathode were systemically investigated. The slurry spin coating method was employed to fabricate the Ni-SDC/SDC/LSCF single cell. For the purpose of improving the power density of current single cells, three dominant polarizations in the SOFC, namely concentration polarization, ohmic polarization and activation polarization were optimized by adjusting open porosity in the anodes, thickness of electrolytes, and microstructure in the electrodes, respectively, and also the relationship between the microstructure of materials and performance of single cell could be established.
