FEW PROTON CONDUCTING POLYMER ELECTROLYTES FOR FUEL CELL

In the present study, few cost effective proton conducting polymer electrolytes based on Poly(Vinyl alcohol) (PVA), Poly (Vinyl acetate) (PVAc) and Poly (Vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP) have been reported. The highest ionic conductivity at 303K of the prepared polymer electrolytes have been found to be in the range of 10-6-10-3 Scm-1.The charge transport mechanism in all the prepared polymer electrolytes has been investigated using Raman, and ac impedance spectroscopic techniques. The thermal properties of the films have been studied by Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) studies. The amorphous nature of the films has been confirmed using X-Ray Diffraction (DSC) analysis. The optimized polymer electrolyte has been used in microbial fuel cell to confirm the existence of the proton transport.
