A New Discharge State Recognition Method of EDM Based on Pulse Edge Detection

Aiming at the problems existing in the actual process of EDM such as too high no-load ratio, unstable and even mutational discharge state, a new discharge state recognition method based on pulse edge detection theory is proposed in this paper, on the basis of analyzing the traditional recognition methods. Compared to the traditional methods, this new recognition method has a higher accuracy, as well as stronger real-time performance, and can also meet the requirements for digital control. A great amount of experimental results show that the recognition method based on pulse edge detection can effectively improve EDM gap discharge efficiency and machining quality, and can strengthen the processing stability as well, which provides an effective approach to realize energy-saving production.
