The Study and Application of Pulse Generator in EDM Mirror Machining
In order to improve the quality of the machined surface and the precision processed by EDM, various kinds of factors about the pulse generator in mirror EDM sinking process have been discussed in this paper, such as the discharge state monitoring, power source stabilization, combined high voltage and low voltage discharge, minimizing the electrode consumption, micro discharge energy control etc. And the pulse generator of micro discharge in mirror EDM is developed. As a result, both the high quality mirror surface and the high efficiency are obtained. A good surface roughness of 0.05 μm Ra (490 mm2) and 0.15 μm Ra (1 250 mm2) is gained in small-area mirror machining (powderless) with the application of this technology, which provides a good technology basis for precision and nanomachining.
