Study on High-Speed Fabrication of Micro Tools by Hybrid Circuit Twin-WEDG
This paper describes a hybrid machining process that combines twin-WEDG together with two different electro discharge circuits to rapidly fabricate micro electrode tools. The results show that the use of transistor electro discharge and RC electro discharge circuits to fabricate micro tools can achieve both rough and finish machining on one machine. Compared to conventional wire electro discharge grinding (WEDG) processes, a hybrid circuit twin WEDG process that combines rough and finish machining into one process improves the efficiency of micro tool fabrication. This high speed micro tool fabrication process can be applied not only to micro electrode machining but also to micro punching and micro probing.
