Study on Micro-EDM of a 3 000C High Melting Point Material
The Ta-W alloy materials were processed by micro-EDM, and the technology was studied on the influence of the electricity parameter and electrode materials on the machining speed and the electrode wear. Through a series of technology experiments, the array holes of 2×2 about φ58 μm in diameter were machined. On the basis of electric milling principle, a beam about 22 μm in width, a groove about 53 μm in width, and a foursquare platform structure with about 30 μm length of each side were processed by micro-EDM. Moreover, some three-dimensional microstructures of concentric circles were also machined. The investigation and experiments results show that it is sure to improve machining properties to apply suitable machining parameter and way, and can better realize micro-EDM of high melting point materials.
