Micro Electrochemical Fabrication of Tungsten Tips for Field Emission Electric Propulsion Thruster
Emitting tip is one of the primary components of the Field emission electric propulsion (FEEP) thruster, which affects the performance of the thruster. To achieve the required tip size, an electrochemical etching method was used to fabricate the tungsten tips. The effect of the electrochemical etching parameters such as the concentration, the immersion depth and the applied voltage, were explored, and the optimal conditions for tip fabrication were determined. A series of surface treatments were also conducted to improve the wet ability of the emitting tips.
