The Challenges and Strategies of Water Resource Sustainable Utilization in China

摘要：

China has been witnessing a dramatic economic growth since 1978, which also has resulted in destructing environment and shrinking natural resources. Water, the basic resource for life, is becoming the important factor limiting Chinas sustainable development. By analyzing the challenges facing Chinas water resource sustainable utilization, the paper proposed the five strategies for the water resource sustainable utilization. They are to develop the efficient irragation technology to reduce agriclutre water use, explorate non-traditional water resource, improve water price to control urban users water demand, make compulsory water saving products certification standard and to introduce market mechanism to wastewater treatment industry.
