An Analysis of the Regional Economic Difference on the Basis of the Potential Analysis Model: From Yangtze River Delta 1990-2007 Data

Due to the limitation of the Solow Residual Means, those series of the metric models derived from it will inevitably have different kinds of results when people use them to calculate the root of the economic growth. However, the potential analysis model can overcome the shortcomings of the Solow Residual Means and pay equal attention to the efficiency as well as the quantity of the resources thus ensure the capability of the deep analysis on the operation of the economic systems. Therefore, the model causes great attention of the academic circle. With the potential analysis model, the paper analyzes and demonstrates the economic differences of several cities in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces respectively in the years 1990 to 2000 and 2001 to 2007. The results are as followings. First, TFP plays an important role in the forming of the regional economic differences. Second, the economic development of the two provinces depends mostly on capital and labor investment while TFP contributes less to the economic development.
