Politics and Tourism-An Empirical Study of Taiwan Strait Relations in the Past 20 Years
The Taiwan Strait relations have been unsteady in recent 20 years, so have been the Taiwan tourist arrivals at mainland. Based on the relevant data from 1987 to 2007, the paper analyzed the impact of Taiwan Strait relations and crisis events on the Taiwan tourist arrivals at mainland. After a comparative study of the authentic statistics with three ideal curves, it is found that the concave valleys appeared when the crisis events broke. So this paper quantitatively analyzed the impact of seven crisis events on the Taiwan tourist arrivals at mainland, trying to offer a typical case study for exploring the impact of the international relations and crisis events on tourism.
