Allelopathic effects of aqueous eztract of overground part of Erigeron canadensis 1. on seed germination and seedling growth of some cultivated cruciferaes species

Allelopathic effects of aqueous extract of over ground part of Erigeron canadensis L. were studied on seed germination and seedling growth of three cultivated crucifers (Raphanus sativus L, Brassica perkinensis and Brassica parachinensis).Seed germination of B. parachinensis was completely inhibited at >0.25g/ml leaf and stalk extract of Erigeron canadensis L. in the lab experiment. Seed germination of R. sativus L was not inhibited at any concentration but in B.Perkinensis complete failure of seed germination at any concentration. The extracts had strong inhibitory effect to root and shoot elongation of seedling in R. salivus L and B. parachinensis. Leaves and stalk of Erigeron canadensis L. may be a source of natural weedicide against crucifers which will help to control invasive plants.
