Allelopathic effects of ginsenosides on growth and antiozidant enzymes activity of ginseng callus in vitro

Investigation was carried out on net fresh weight, activities of antioxidant enzymes SOD, POD, CAT and the content of MDA in ginseng callus under a range of total ginsenosides, panaxadiol ginsenosides, panaxatriol ginsenosides and ginsenosides Re concentrations. The result showed that: Total ginsenosides, panaxadiol ginsenosides, panaxatriol ginsenosides and ginsenosides Re solutions showed inhibitory effects on ginseng callus net fresh weight increase. Activities of SOD, POD and CAT increased by total ginsenosides. Activities of SOD increased, CAt decreased, POD increased at low and mediuM concentration and decreased at high concentrtion by panaxadiol ginsenosides. Activities of CAT increased, POD and SOD increased at low concentration decreased at medium and high concentrtion by panaxatriol ginsenosides. Activities of SOD increased, POD and CAT decreased by ginsenosides Re. All ginsenosides treatments were accompanied by an increased MDA content.
