A Cost Model of Ezternal Scaffolds Based on Four Dimension Spaces

The construction measures cost is conventionally fixed in Chinese construction contracts. But for large scale projects, the dispute on the measures cost during acceptance survey has kept rising because of uncertainties and subcontracting, especially for external scaffolds. The actual cost of external scaffolds is affected by many factors. This paper analyzed the measurement method of external scaffolds, then confirmed its main influential factors by means of statistical analysis on contract disputes. We found that an important reason for disputes on the external scaffolds cost lied in its imperfect measurement method and price decision rules which neglected some important influential factors. A new model of external scaffolds cost based on four-dimension space was then developed. This new model consists of a new measurement method and a new price decision rule. It was proved to be effective in the construction management of Shenzhen.
