A Mirror Study of Chinese Contractors with the Growth Path of Top International Contractors
There is a strong linkage between contractors’ business characteristics and their growth path. By analyzing 3 top international contractors in developed countries as Chinese enterprises’ benchmark, their growth histories were marked off five stages with the main business modes utilized at different time. An interview survey and questionnaire with some large contractors in china are used to identify the business characteristics of Chinese large contractors. As a mirror study, the research indicates the performance gap and the stage position by now between the Chinese large contractor and the12 top international contractors. The results offer a valuable difference during the development strategy from stage two to stage three between Chinese large contractors and the top international contractors. In essence, the research results indicate the reason of why the Chinese large contractors are big but not strong.
