JIT Supply Alliance: A New Procurement Option for Contractors

摘要：

JIT procurement has been proven to be an effective way to reduce waste and inventory cost in manufacturing industry. However, its application in construction industry is limited. Due to the liquidity of contractor’s project, it’s very hard to build long term and stable cooperative relationship between contractor and its suppliers, which is required by the traditional JIT procurement mode. In this paper, a new supply mode namely JIT supply alliance is proposed to drive the application of JIT procurement-supply in construction industry from the perspective of suppliers. Customized virtual supply alliance is proposed as the operational solution to JIT supply alliance based on the theory of virtual organization.
