Analysing Functionalities of Web-Based Construction Collaboration Eztranets through a Provision & Requirement Approach: Preliminary Study
Web-based Construction collaboration extranets (CCEs) are adopted for improving information management, communication and collaborative working in the construction industry. Previous studies have demonstrated their development, evolution and implementation. However, although the general functionalities of CCEs have been identified and described, there is still a lack of systematic analysis of the functionalities provided by different systems, particularly without the consideration of user requirements. To bridge this gap, the authors have developed a provision & requirement approach to analyze this issue. This paper represents the preliminary study which outlines the current issues, the possibility for integration and comparison of system provisions and user requirements. Research methods, design and phases are also described.
