Cost-Efficiency Analysis for Selection of Energy Efficient Facilities in Residential Buildings
Residential buildings as a major part of in building industry, its significance and status are vital in reducing energy consumption. How to effectively choose products and/or facilities which meets both energy-efficient and cost-effective requirements simultaneously has become a major concern. In this paper, with a typical residential unit in certain area as a sample, cost-efficiency analysis were carried out on a variety of commonly available energy-saving products (facilities) respectively and rank them according to the most beneficial for the least cost. Energy-simulation software REM/Rate was used to perform energy evaluations and derive the benefit of each product. Therefore, considering costs of energy-saving products in a given geographic area, the analytical methods in this research can be used to guide selection of energy-efficient products.
