An Empirical Analysis on the Appropriate Scale of China’s Housing Consumption

In the background of international financial crisis， housing consumption seems particularly important to keep the appropriate scale of development for stimulating domestic demand. This paper analyses the relationship between housing consumption and economic growth, and studies the appropriate scale of china’s housing consumption should have from the theoretical and empirical. The result shows housing consumption should be maintained at the growth rate of 12.4%-13.9%. Through gray relational analysis, this paper analyses the impact of different types of housing consumption on china’s economic development. The result shows the affordable housing consumption is most important to GDP growth in housing consumption structure. The results also express the view that in the coming period the main target in housing consumption is not to meet housing investment consumption, but to improve housing living conditions.
