Investigation on Use of Barren Perlite as Mineral Admizture in Concrete
The feasibility of barren perlite use as mineral admixture in concrete was investigated by means of experimental work and described in this paper. Compared to reference concrete without perlite admixture, key properties of various admixture concretes blended in deferent amount were determined under three cured conditions at curing stages. The experimental results show that perlite powder in 10%20% replacing cement can enhanced effectively the workability, anti-permeability, late-age strength and other mechanical properties for concrete, especially in curing condition of boiling pressure or moist-heat and for high performance concrete. It is concluded that perlite was indicated a good potential for use as a mineral admixture in concrete and cement-base composite, which created a new type of perlite use on industry and turned barren perlite into valuable ore resource. That is of momentous technical and economic significance.
