The Effect Analysis of Water Regulation for the Yellow River Estuary Delta Ecosystem
From the 1970s of last century, along with the social economy development of the Yellow River Basin, the conflict of water resources demanded and supplying was becoming sharp, in addition, because the water was overused in disorder, led the Lower Yellow River drying up frequently, and because of lack of water, the estuary delta wetland area was shrank, quality was declined and biology diversity reduced. The estuary delta ecosystem water demand includes land area water demand, river channel water demand and inshore area water demand. Since March 1999, Yellow River Conservancy Commission (YRCC) has been implementing the Yellow River water regulation, through regulating the water of reservoirs scientifically and strengthening management of water utilization in plan, the condition of river drying frequently has been hold back. Up to now, consecutive 10 years of no river drying up has been realized, and the amount of water flowed into the sea has been increased significantly. In 2008 and 2009, two times of water regulation for the estuary delta ecosysteM were implemented based on Water and Sediment Regulation at the beginning of flood season, regulating water for the wetland by plan, and the ecosystem water demand of land area, river channel and inshore area are satisfied in great extent, the wetland area is increased, the species and quantity of fish and bird are increased, the ecosystem is improved significantly.
