Ezperiences with Artificial Recharge of Groundwater in the Netherlands
In order to fulfil the demand of fast urbanization and economical growth in China, groundwater resources have been contaminated and overexploited in many places, which has led to health risks, groundwater table decline, ground level subsidence and sea water intrusion. This puts a great threat to human life and industrial and agricultural production. The Netherlands have accumulated many years of experience in artificial recharge. This article introduces the methodology and describes over 50 years experience with conjunctive use of surface water and groundwater by artificial recharge in the Netherlands, with the intention to provide some reference for China s future sustainable groundwater management.
