The Application of Radar Quantitative Precipitation Estimation in Flood Forecasting during Flood Season
The high resolution rain information in time and space can be obtained through radar QPE ( Quantitative Precipitation Estimation), and be input into the hydrological model to improve the precision of hydrological forecast. The paper takes the Bailianhe River Basin as research area, and adopts the grouping Z~I relationship to transfer radar reflectivity into rain, and check it with Kalman filtering combining with rain gauge, and then input rain information obtained through various estimation methods into Xin anjiang model to make flood forecasting test. The test showed that when the radar QPE without calibration is input directly into hydrological model, the simulation results are not satisfactory, but when the radar QPE with calibration is input into the model, the forecast precision would be improved more. The researches show that radar QPe has wide application prospect in hydrological forecast.
